Yes, there have been way too many fatalities and serious injuries recently.

It is always sad to hear about the death of a fellow cyclist. 

Why are there traffic signals on residential streets in that section of Bridgeport? Folklore suggests that they are a remnant of the Daley machine era during which Bridgeport got all sorts of special treatment such as the electric power "never" going out etc. Traffic signals enable half of the users of any given intersection to not slow down - which in a residential neighborhood is always a bad thing for safety. Perhaps this needless death can be the catalyst for removing traffic signals.
