3T Design Recalls Cervélo Bicycles with Aura Pro Handlebars Due to Risk of Injury

 

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Consumers should stop using this product, which is being recalled voluntarily, unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

 

Recall Summary

Name of product: Cervélo Bicycles with Aura Pro Handlebars

 

Hazard: The bicycle's handlebar clamps can detach during riding causing the rider to lose control, posing a risk of injury. 

 

Remedy: Consumers should stop using their bicycles immediately and contact 3T Design to obtain a free repair kit that includes four replacement bolts and instructions. Consumers can follow the instructions to replace the handlebar's bolts or take the bicycle to a Cervélo authorized dealer for a free repair.

Description: The Aura Pro custom bicycle handlebars are original equipment on the 2013 Cervélo P-Series bicycles which come in black, gray and red color combinations. The handlebars are finished in gloss black with "3T," AURA-PRO," and "ULTIMATE-PERFORMANCE" in white on the handlebar's top surface. The recall includes the P3 with Shimano Ultegra and P5 Three with SRAM Red bicycle models. "Cervélo" and "P3" or "P5" appear on the bicycle's frame.

 

Incidents/Injuries: 3T Design has received one report of an incident resulting in minor injuries.

 

Sold at: Cervélo bicycle retailers nationwide from September 2012 through January 2013 for about $3,600 for the P3 with Shimano Ultegra bicycle and about $6,000 for the P5 Three with SRAM Red bicycle with these handlebars.

Specialized Bicycle Components Recalls Aerobars Due to Fall Hazard

(I'm taking my Trek Soho in tomorrow for this recall.  One of the three injuries Trek reported from this defect made the rider a quadriplegic.  Yikes!)

Trek Recalls Bicycles Equipped with Front Disc Brakes to Replace Quick Release Lever Due to Crash Hazard

 

Recall Summary

 

Name of Product: Trek bicycles equipped with front disc brakes

 

Hazard: An open quick release lever on the bicycle’s front wheel hub can come into contact with the front disc brake assembly, causing the front wheel to come to a sudden stop or separate from the bicycle, posing a risk of injury to the rider.

 

Remedy: Replace

Consumers should stop using the bicycles immediately and contact an authorized Trek retailer for free installation of a new quick release on the front wheel. Trek will provide each owner who participates in the recall with a $20 coupon that is redeemable by December 31, 2015 toward any Bontrager merchandise.  (The coupon has no cash value.)

Description: This recall involves all models of Trek bicycles from model years 2000 through 2015 equipped with front disc brakes and a black or silver quick release lever on the front wheel hub that opens far enough to contact the disc brake (see Figures 1 and 2).  Bicycles with front quick release levers that do not open a full 180 degrees from the closed position, are not included in this recall.

 

Incidents/Injuries: Trek reports three incidents, all including injuries. One incident resulted in quadriplegia.  One incident resulted in facial injuries.  One incident resulted in a fractured wrist. 

 

Sold at: Bicycle stores nationwide from about September 1999 through April 2015 for between $480 and $1,650.

Dash® X FM child bicycle seats

Hazard:

The reclining plate that holds the child bicycle seat in place can detach, making the child seat unstable and can cause the rider of the bicycle to lose control, posing a crash hazard.  

Remedy:

Replace

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Dash X FM child bicycle seats and contact Burley to receive instructions on how to identify and dispose of the recalled child seat and how to receive a free replacement child seat.  Consumers will be provided with a replacement Dash Bicycle Seat (Dash X FM, Dash FM, or Dash RM).

Description:

This recall involves Dash X FM frame mount child bicycle seats (model number 924004).  The recalled child seats have a serial number beginning in P924 and a lot number beginning in the letter D or E.  The serial number and lot number are located on the lower rear of the child seats, on the white label that has “BURLEY” printed on it.  “DASH X” is engraved on the rear of the child seat, near the top.
