Are you still riding in this weather to work or school? give me a shout
I ride to work everyday and generally stick to the main thoroughfares enroute to downtown...which during the summer are jam packed with cyclists. During drizzly days like today there is a marked reduction in cyclists...probably 70-80% or more. This is a stark contrast to Portland, where this kind of weather occurs all year round and doesnt keep anybody from riding...are we snowmen people? No, were Chicagoans and we're tougher then that, but where are all my brothers and sisters? Its more important now then ever to maintain representation on the road as already drivers are getting more aggressive as they feel 'our season' is over. Give me a shout if you're still riding in this weather as sometimes its easy to feel like the few of us left are the only ones still out there...thanks for the support.

I have been riding all year round for more than 10 years and I always find new and interesting ways to go about riding in the cold wet weather. For instance these past couple of months I have found that riding with my umbrella in one hand and the bar controls in the other have been challenging but very rewarding. I arrive at my destination much drier and happier than I had been in the past.

Whoah, I think I saw you the other day! were you riding down Clark street around Belmont on Saturday? That was absolutely crazy but it was super cool you can balance all that at once!

Fenders on my cross bike and a set of rain gear keep this guy in the saddle. Fall is my favorite time to ride. A slight chill when you first set off, a little sweat when you get where you're going. And of course the Snuffleupagus trucks that come and suck up all the leaves...

I rode everywhere last year on my mountain bike, my school was also about 1.5mi away. It was a blast, but i transferred and i got a Upass this year! Soo convenient and i can read and study on the bus and train. I just ordered new tires for my mountain bike for the days that i dont need to study though. BIKE ON!

i was surprised to find how awesome it feels to ride in 40-degree weather. i think i need some kind of rain shorts to cover the tops of my thighs, though. it's not great to spend the next couple hours with wet jean legs.

I'd rather ride in the snow than in the rain, Friday was pretty nasty getting to work, even though my ride has shortened since last year (commute is longer but only part of it by bike these days sadly). I do look forward to the cold-as-hell days ahead, I find winter cycling invigorating. In fact my avatar is a picture of me after an 8 mile, 16-degrees-below-zero commute last January

My bicycle is my preferred mode of transportation, in all weather! It really takes quite a storm to put me on the CTA.
