The Chainlink

To my shame, I didn't get on a bike today. But did walk with my wife and our son's dog along the beach. What did you do to enjoy this great, rare day?

Saturday, only a short ride to Jackson Park Harbor to check out the sailing dinghies. Two were ready for Sunday. Then the perfect Sunday actually did arrive for "frostbite" sailing. So... no cycling but match racing at our very tiny club. My wife and I surprised ourselves and everyone by placing first three times, one DSQ, and one loss in five races. Left dry and warm, the real surprise. Fewer good sailing days in November than good cycling days, so I took what was given. Now its back to the bike and autumn commuting. What a weekend.
Sleep, ride bikes to Target with son. More sleep. Take daughter to the playground. Rode bike to grocery store, watched Harry Potter movie with children and laundry. Now time for more sleep.

So how is that sausage shop? I did see an ad for it and I LOVE cured/smoked/encased meats. Is it worth riding over there?

Haven't tried the sausages yet (I bought some breakfast pork sausage links though), but the shop is great. Clean, new, big selection of German and Polish foods and beverages, reasonable pricing, and an easy place to walk to for me when I need some fresh ingredients. I'll surely be back.
damn it was a nice weekend. still nursing a town ligament in my elbow, so i ran the leaf blower all day saturday at the garden jumps while my good buddies alternately pitched in and shredded. the place looks gorgeous now and is in exceptionally good shape.

on sunday we pulled an epic 30+ mile per hour fast paced xc ride at kettle moraine. i <3 my single speed 29er!
I decided to ride by yesterday afternoon. That place rocks. It's how Wholefoods would retool Devon Market, if they weren't such pansies about nitrates.
Got a smoked ham hock, which I used to make some very tasty bean soup.

Spent Saturday in Lincoln Square - took a class at the Chopping Block, walked around, hung out in the park. Sunday took a great ride along the lakefront. Winds from the south = I flew on the way back north! It was awesome!
Took the convertible out for one last drive. Whee! Days like that always end up being a contest between drive-the-convertible and go-for-a-long-ride. Convertible won because I can have fun on the bike when it's cold, not so the convertible.
On Saturday I ran a bunch of errands on bike (including my favorite errand - the library), napped, went to lakeshore theater and drank too much...not bad
