Description

All are welcome to participate in this unsupported day ride, the Summertime West Suburban Gold brewpub tour. This 65-mile loop will reach Two Brothers, in Warrenville, then Lunar Brewing, in Villa Park on the return.

The outbound leg will be mostly on streets (Ogden & Warrenville roads) taking advantage of the early Sunday lull in traffic. The return leg will be mostly on trails until meeting up with St. Charles Rd. in Villa Park.

Meet-up Options:

1) 8:30 a.m. at the Logan Square monument (Kedzie & Logan)

2) 8:45 a.m. at the Central Park Green Line CTA station (near Garfield Park Conservatory)

Try to aim for arriving a little earlier if possible. The ride pace will be moderate (at least on the outbound leg) so try to pack light.

Please note that Metra will not allow bikes aboard trains on the 26th due to the "Taste" event-related blackout.

Comment by Bicycle Poet on June 23, 2011 at 2:12pm: Chris, thanks for the notice on Butterfield's road fattening (its growing from 2-lane to 4-lane). I've updated our route in the event. On the way to Two Brothers, we'll be on Butterfield for about 1000 feet as we leave Warrenville Rd. Whether or not it is closed at that point, I'm sure we can manage 1000 feet until we turn north on to the residential street (Twin Pines). My updated return (eastbound) route will avoid Butterfield all together.

Comment by Chris C on June 23, 2011 at 1:32pm: FYI Butterfield Rd is under construction from Naperville Rd out to Rt 59. Not sure if the roadwork has made it out to Rt 59 yet. If Butterfield looks bad then a good alternate is Williams Rd north to Batavia Rd and approach Two Bros from the northeast via Timber or Shaw.
