Now that there is enough beer out that way, the CBES will ride the little-known Salt Creek Trail through bucolic western Cook County. This idyllic trail quietly winds its way through forest preserves, parks (regular and industrial), golf courses, side streets, hydraulic facilities, and parking lots. We will stop first at Lunar Brewing in Lombard, then go on an x-clusive CBES-only tour of the Flesk brewing facility and end at the deceptive Church Street Brewing (which is actually on Industrial Drive #C). Its a few miles from there to the Wood Dale UP-West Metra stop. It is anticipated to make the 6:27 train back.

43 Miles. Portions of the trail are crushed limestone.

NOTE: Unfortunately, no food at any of the stops, although both Lunar and Church Street are BYOF and there are restaurants right next to Lunar.

Map of ride is here:

Same here, thanks everyone, it was a great day. Salt Creek trail is idyllic indeed!  And the guy at Flesk was really nice, so was his stout :)

Thanks for the good ride and fine company, Gents.

Here is the actual ride - just ignore the part that goes to my house.

I'll see you guys at Flesk.

I'm not gonna be able to make it. Sucks because I was really looking forward to touring Flesk and finally checking out Church's taproom.

Come on, might attends!  The forecast is a lot nice out west where we'll be:  55 and sunny.

Tom,  we're going to leave Lunar around 2 PM.   You could also take the IPP directly to Lunar if you're running late.

I have to get my kid to Glencoe at 10 am, so I plan to catch up in Lombard. I'll be starting my ride from home in Oak Park after my fatherly errand. Sounds like a fun day.
