The L.A.T.E. Ride is hosted by and benefiting Friends of the Parks, a non-profit organization involved with Chicagoland's parks, playgrounds and preserves.
8,500 bicyclists will ride 25 miles after midnight in Chicago on Saturday night/Sunday morning July 11, 2010. They’ll experience some of Chicago’s neighborhoods and its magnificent lakefront bike path under the stars. They’ll enjoy a rest stop along the way and, at the end, watch the sunrise over Lake Michigan while enjoying refreshments at Buckingham Fountain.
The Cause: People Pedaling for Parks. Rider fees benefit Friends of the Parks’ advocacy work in Chicago. Since 1975, we have built new, safe playgrounds for children, especially in park-poor communities, and mobilized thousands of volunteers to plant trees, remove litter and graffiti, and cultivate urban gardens in hundreds of Chicago parks.
