2012 was disastrous drilling season for Shell and the mishaps and mechanical failures have suspended the company's ability to drill in the Arctic in 2013. Still, Shell is trying to drill in the arctic and it is imperative that we stand up to them to protect the remote, fragile polar region and the people and animals that depend on it.
Andrew Hartsig, Arctic programme director of the Ocean Conservancy says, "Shell has clearly demonstrated that the company is not prepared to conduct safe and responsible operations in icy Arctic waters."
MEET US (preferably with your bicycle, but not absolutely necessary) at the Shell Gas Station, just three blocks south of Western BLUE line stop to take a photo of us holding a banner saying "NO ARCTIC DRILLING" with a logo of shell and a polar bear.
Please bring your bike if you can.
Please be on time.
