Pitching a tent Renaissance Style

Description

Due to the Metra Bike Blackout on accounts of everyone streaming into the city Sunday night for the Air and Water Show, we will no longer be biking to the Ren Faire. I'll be part of a group that will be driving up, camping Saturday night and driving to the Ren Faire on Sunday. It sounds like there are also some people who will be riding up Sat, camping, and riding home Sun.

Original Plan:

Ride our steel steeds north on Saturday. Camp for night at Illinois Beach State Park or a nearby hotel if that's your thing. Ride to the Bristol Renaissance Fair on Sunday, spend the day at the fair and sling shot home on Metra. The plan is to catch Train 824 from Winthrop Harbor at 6:57.

The ride up is around four hours plus stops and mostly on trails. Meet Saturday at 10:00 at the North Channel Trail trailhead in Rowan Park just north of Lawrence. We'll stop somewhere along the way for lunch.

Renaissance Faire tickets are $19.95 at the gate, $17.95 online, or $16.95 at Walgreens.

So, It looks like two of us are riding. I am planing on leaving a bit earlier than 10am, so envane, if you want to ride together, get a hold of me so we can coordinate.

I'm riding up and back (with my tent).

Alex, you'll probably need to bring your own tent

Alex might right up with you

Is anyone riding up?   If not, I'm probably going to leave earlier than 10am.

There's a group that's car camping and going to the fair on Sunday. If some of you want to ride up and camp with us and ride back that's cool, or I think we might have a few car spots left if someone wants to go to the fair. Right now we 4 sites reserved, which means we can have 8 tents. The tents I know of are:

1. Liz and myself

2. Hector and Karlene

3. Will and Shay

What is the tent situtation?  Do I need to bring my own (1-person) tent or will there be enough space?

I plan on riding up Saturday and ride back on Sunday.  I'm not planning on going to the Fair, so if anyone wants to do the same, let me know.

Ok, so it looks like there may be opportunities for some people to bike up and send their bikes home with drivers as well as car camping.  I'll post more details when I figure out more.

For sure still up for camping, now the question is to ride there & back, skipping the fair or car camp and hit the fair
