Don't forget to have breakfast and take snacks with you.
Ride approximately 20 miles to 750 Veterans Parkway in Lake Geneva, to Geneva Lake Brewing. There's a tap room; no food served on premises, but it's OK to bring food from somewhere else. Of course, we can eat first, then continue to the brewery. I googled around a bit for a source of food, and found that Simple Cafe nearby has good reviews. Not so good reviews, but right on the lake: Lake House Tap & Grill.
After libations, ride about 8 miles to the Prairie Trail trailhead in Genoa City, then follow the trail south to Crystal Lake (~20 m) or even farther, depending on weather conditions and our state of mind (+17 m to Elgin; + another 13 m to Geneva Metra station—the latter would make it "Geneva to Geneva" ride!).
Places of interest along the route (or close):
Stockholm's Brewpub ("not Sweden" part).
Trains from Crystal Lake to OTC: 4, 6, 8 p.m.
From Elgin to Union Station: 3:55, 5:55, 8 p.m.
From Geneva to OTC: 4:37, 6:37, 8:37 p.m.
Weekend pass: $7.00.
