Description

PeopleForBikes is announcing the fifth annual National Bike Challenge which starts on Sunday, May 1.

The Challenge will unite 100,000+ bicycle riders to pedal 75 million miles from May 1, 2016 until September 30, 2016.  It is an online platform, free for everyone to use to log their miles and celebrate riding, while finding inspiration to ride more often. The Challenge brings together tens of thousands of people who bike across the country who share a love of bicycling.
Be part of The Chainlink team: https://nationalbikechallenge.org/team/9812
You can automatically log miles on an app such as Strava or Map My Ride so you can easily sync it up so that it automatically updates their miles in the National Bike Challenge. When you log in, you just need to go to Manage Settings (left hand navigation bar) and scroll down to the Apps section to sync Strava.
This is super easy to be a part of it!
2. Ride your Bike!
3. Set up your auto logging of miles or enter your miles every day you ride.
4. Come back to this thread and post pics and your comments about the challenge.
5. Invite your friends to join us for the National Bike Challenge.
Woot!

21st team!! WOOT! Congrats everyone! :-) Awesome job for our first year The Chainlink has been a team for the National Bike Challenge.

I am putting together a recap for an upcoming newsletter and would love to include you... Any thoughts, quotations, photos, etc? How did this challenge change you? Did you do more miles? Did you meet fellow cyclists through the challenge or as a result? Are you thinking about your goals for next year?

Shoot me a quick email! yasmeen@thechainlink.org

Thanks!!

If you are using auto-updates, make sure you check the website to see if the miles are being counted. A few of us have lost the auto-update connection. Once you reconnect, it should sync and update the account with all of the rides.

Here's the list of peeps that get a free t-shirt. If you don't see your name on the list and you sent me an email, please let me know. I don't want to miss anyone and realized my system for tracking t-shirts wasn't so great (kinda really bad). I also gave top ten for June t-shirts. I'll be in Daley Plaza for the rally. Also, if anyone wants to meet up after and grab a bite, I could meet up with people for lunch downtown. :-)

Yesterday, we had a great group ride to the The Pullman Factories, +40 miles round trip. Once we arrived we had a walking tour of the factory buildings, a neighborhood walking tour, and a cycling tour of the Alley Art/Laborpaste Art. Lot's of photo's are being uploaded here...

I've topped 1500 miles so far this year!!  I am looking forward to see how many miles I'll get done this year :)

Yesterday I reached 61 days (two full months) of riding my bike every day. I'm excited to increase my miles in June in preparation for RAGBRAI but definitely need to schedule a massage soon. :-) How's everyone doing? If you haven't logged some of your miles for May, please try to get those logged today or tomorrow. Have a great day!

That was fast! Both tickets are spoken for. Thanks for the quick response!

Gene Tenner was kind enough to give us his tickets to Bike the Drive. The tickets (one each) are free to the first two people from our team that contact me at yasmeen@thechainlink.org

I signed up and somehow ended up with riders from Elk Grove Village!!  Is the link correct?  I think I just fixed my groups.
