Description

Hey all,

Dooring is something that can be prevented and we are hoping to make that happen.  Simple steps can make the recent dooring crash stories avoidable and ones we never have to relive.

Come join the Look Chicago Street Team as we conduct our first Safety Blitz at the corners of Damen, Milwaukee and North Ave.  We will be meeting here at 11 am to hand out informational flyers to pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.

Starting at 11am we will proceed down Milwaukee Ave toward the location where recently fellow cyclist Dustin Valenta was involved in a severely damaging dooring crash.

Info HERE pertaining to his crash.

We plan to be out for an hour as we distribute flyers down Milwaukee Ave and end with an informal meeting at possibly Rite Liquors or Gold Star Bar.

We 'LOOK' forward to seeing ya'll there.

this coincides with Chiditarod well. There are 35 bike marshalls working from 10:30am-5:00 and Milwaukee / Wolcott is very close to the boundaries of the "course". Can I get a bunch of flyers in advance to hand out to the other bike Marshalls ?  Or can I get a couple and get my own extra copies made ?

bike marshalls are perfect ambassadors for this campaign as we always promote 'safety first'.......text me at 312 35 one 4 zero 52   thanks !

Meeting on which corner?  Or, is the bike corral there?  I don't think they take it out for the winter, but I have not been over there this winter.

This is the message I received from Ald. Joe Moreno last night via Facebook in response to our request to have him publicize Saturday's event:

"Brendan - Absolutely ... Great work! I'll try and make it to the event but we publicize all over.

Best

Joe"

EVERYBODY, PLEASE COME TO THIS EVENT!!! Why do people leave the scene of an accident? BECAUSE NOBODY, (maybe some), CARES. Invite someone to your house even if you know them. Jot down the serial number of a $20 bill and put it on the floor next to the toilet. Was it returned, ignored, not noticed, or taken. Before the guest leaves check the bathroom. Is the bill still there? If not ask to see his or her money. Don't invite that person back. Misery loves company and no good deed goes left unpunished. If you don't invite people to your house nothing will be missing when they leave. People are out for themselves and a friendship amounts to what can I get from this person and what can I con this person into doing for me and if you don't do it you are percieved as an asshole.? If you don't make friends you pretty much can't make enemies. Bear in mind that I wasn't born with this attitude but the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
