Description

Join Chicago's three Kidical Mass branches for a very special ride and camp at Illinois Beach State Park. We've got the group site reserved for Saturday September 8th and all our friends are welcome. Don't worry about dragging food up for Saturday's dinner. Local pizza joint, Tony's, will deliver large one topping pizzas to our site for $7.99 a pop. Plan to bring breakfast items for your family and lunch depending on how long you plan to stay on Sunday. Check out is at 3:00pm.

We'll be meeting at the Zion Metra stop on the UP-N line at 2:00pm. There's a 12:43pm train from Clybourn that gets into Zion at 2:00 and check in at the campsite is at 3:00. Bike trailers in stroller mode and regular bikes with child seats mounted are welcome on the Metra. It's likely that a moving truck will be rented to haul cargo bikes and gear up to the site. Details to follow. Save the date!

I might be visiting my Dad in Winthrop Harbor.  I'd love to meet up.  Yay or nay?

Wish I wasn't busy that night.  Have a blast.

It's about 3 miles, about which 90% is on trails.

Ash - how far is the ride from the metra to the camp site?

Can you say successful test ride? This route is almost 100% on lakeside trails with minimal cyclist/ped traffic. Should be a perfect first ride for kids just starting out on their own bikes. Save your bike's cargo capacity for actual cargo and put those kids to work next month.
