Description

The Hobo Ride.  Explore the fine establishments along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe train line.  Ride the rails to the edge of the city for the start.

Ride starts in Forest Park, at Old School Tavern.  Gather around 1pm.  We will leave sometime after that - we're in no hurry, Hobos ain't got nowhere they have to be.

Ride Route and Stops here:

Hobo Ride Map

Start out in Forest Park, at Old School Tavern, just a Hobo's short stomp north of the Congress "L" line (real hobos never call train lines by a color).

Then we head for the rails.

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, folks!

Proof positive that hobos are only fun for awhile.

Shouldn't we all be riding old department-store road bikes, with the drop handlebars flipped up? And with a shortened chain, as we took the rear derailleur off years ago!

The final destination is at Oak Park Ave and the tracks north of 31st street.

But being Hobo's we won't have watches,  so not sure if the time will match up.

It depends on if we can go the whole 9.2 miles in 4 or 5 hours or not.

You know the Perimeter Ride will be northbound on Ridgeland and/or Oak Park Ave. through Cicero and Berwyn sometime between the hour of 4:30-5:30...

I'm gonna try to join you part way through - I've got a copy of the route and I will start at the end and work my way back towards the start, so I ought to find you?

9.2 miles and 45 feet of elevation.

A ride even a Hobo can do.
