Half Acre Cycling is having our Yearly Spring Road Clinic!
Date/Time:
Saturday, April 28th 9am ~ 1pm (please bring sack lunch)
Location:
Clarendon Park Community Center 4501 N. Clarendon Ave, Chicago , with on-bike portion taking place at nearby Montrose Harbor.
Cost: $20 for Beginners Clinic; $25 for Intermediate Clinic
Bring your bicycle, helmet, bike lock, cycling clothes, water & snacks.
For the Beginners:
Clinic will be lead by Cat 2 racer, Pascale Petro!
With over 7 BIG wins, to her name including the Illinois State Road Race Championship, The Alexian Brothers’ Tour of Elk Grove and the National Criterium Championships, Pascale Petro came and conquered the sport of cycling. Ms. Petro will be sharing her experience from years of successful racing to help women new to the sport.
Topics to be covered are (subject to change):
-reasons to race versus ride recreationally
-overview of racing disciplines
-cycling terminology
-racing categories
-overview of necessary gear and licenses
-on-the-bike tips on pack riding, cornering, and pacelines
-how to improve fitness
-on the bike etiquette and communication
-plus more!
For the Intermediates
Clinic will be lead by Cycle-Smart (cycle-smart.com) Coach Shaun Adamson

Shaun has been a member of the Alberta Provincial Cycling Team at the Tour de l'Abitibi and many Cyclocross National Championships, as well as being involved with the coaching and organization of Alberta Bicycle Association Racing Committee and Provincial Team. He raced as a member of the Canadian National Cyclocross Team at U23 World Championships in Hooglede-Gits, Belgium and Treviso, Italy.
Shaun has worked with a number of different coaches, most recently spending 2 full seasons directly under [Adam Meyerson’s] tutelage, along with pursuing a Physical Education degree at the University of Alberta. Now he is committed to using everything he has learned and all of his experience to help other athletes reach their cycling goals.

-on the bike skills, like pedal stroke, sprinting, cornering
-When to Upgrade
-Setting goals and choosing target races
The 2012 Women and Transgender Road Clinic is going to be highly educational for all attendees. It should not be missed!
