Description

Here's the plan: On Saturday, May 17th, ride to the Crown Beer Fest in Crown Point, Indiana, drink beer there (obviously), stay overnight in a hotel nearby, next morning visit two new Indiana breweries: Devil's Trumpet in Merrillville and Pokro in Griffith (I have a tentative "yes" from both for a sneak preview).

*****

Let's meet at 9 in the morning at Queen's Landing, leave no later than 9:30. It's 40.5 miles to the Lake County Fairgrounds in Crown Point, where the beerfest will take place.

General admission to the fest starts at 2 p.m. Tickets ($35.00) could be purchased here. Fest closes at 6 p.m.

Closest hotels are all located in Merrillville, around the I-65 and Lincoln Highway intersection (approximately 7 miles from Crown Point).

Devil's Trumpet is just a couple of miles to the east from the said intersection.

From Devil's Trumpet to Pokro Brewing is about 12 miles.

~31 miles from Pokro back to Queen's Landing.

Alternatively, we can ride 17 miles to Flossmoor, refuel there and take the train to Chicago.

Feel free to invite friends!

*****

For those who do not want or can not stay overnight, please drink responsibly and ride back safe. You will be provided with a cue sheet.

If anyone wants to join me only on Sunday, May 18, for the visit of Devil's Trumpet and Pokro, please contact me, we will arrange time and place to meet.

*****

Trails: Lakefront; Burnham Greenway; Erie LackawannaPennsy Greenway (?).

Minimum average speed: 12 mph.

Total distance: approximately 90 miles.

Do not forget: water, spare tubes, tools, lock, bungee cord, layers, gloves, snacks, sunscreen, etc.

Weather.

More details to follow, if needed.

It was a fantastic ride, and a beer fest to match! Your loss, people ;)

I meant: Should I just get it at the door?

If you're coming, sure.

Looks like General Admission is still available from their website, though. Should I bother getting it?

I see VIP is sold out.

By the way, for those who still might attend: according to the Crown Fest organizers, the tickets are sold. I'm not sure whether there will be any available at the door.

Can't blame you . . . two moves equal one fire, as Russians say ;)
