Description

Albany Park Neighborhood Council(APNC) is hosting an event this Saturday June 22 through one of it's many contributions to the community!

Free bicycle services offered by Albany Park's very own youth, alongside professionally experienced mechanics. The services provided will be flat tire repairs, minor component adjustments, and minor wheel truing. No overhual services will be offered due to time restrictions of the clinic.

Locations and Times:
Our Lady of Mercy Church
4432 N Troy St (In Kedzie St. parking lot)
11:00am - 1:00pm

Volta Elementary School
4950 N Avers (In parking lot)
1:30pm - 3:00pm

Come out and show the youth support and encouragement towards Chicago's booming cycling community.

APNC has achieved the following through their youth investments:

  • Formed the community's first-ever youth-driven bicycle cooperative called Bikes N' Roses in which APNC youth leaders are creating leadership and job opportunities for youth in our community by teaching professional skills like bicycle maintenance and repair, and holding "community rides" to get more people out riding their bikes and promote biking as a cleaner cheaper mode of transit

  • Launched MOSAIYC (Murals on Streets + Alleys Inspired by Youth Creators) a project in which youth partner with community residents to design and paint murals on garage doors in areas where violent incidents have occurred to promote anti-violence messages and lift up the value of young people in the community

  • Organized to secure thousands of summer jobs for young people and pushed to revise guidelines to ensure jobs were open to 14- and 15-year olds

Please visit apncorganizing.org to see what other amazing things APNC is doing for it's community.

Not sure what's wrong with your bike?

We'll give a quick inspection, and a basic tune up.
