Description

Guess what? Yet another brewery is about to open in Valparaiso, IN: Four FathersThe festivities will commence at noon on April 19th.

It's 55.5 miles ride from Queen's Landing, so let's meet there (at Queen's Landing, that is) at 7 in the morning on Saturday, April 19th and leave no later than 7:15 a.m.

After trying what all the Four Fathers have to offer, we'll proceed to (1.5 mi) Figure 8 Brewing for lunch (there will be a food truck at the opening, so we will not starve until lunch, regardless).

After lunch, a short (0.9 mi) ride for a quick stop at the third Valparaiso brewery, Ironwood.

Sufficiently refueled, we'll be on our way back to Flossmoor. I would prefer to avoid major roads this time and follow a bit longer (42.5 mi) route, but will not insist on that. More direct course (part of which is very familiar to the 3F regulars), is shorter by only 3.8 miles.

If we start no later than 4 p.m., we should be at the Flossmoor Metra Electric by eight at 12 mph speed. If we miss 7:52 p.m. train, there will be just enough time for a beer before the next one, at 8:52.

Feel free to invite friends!

*****

Trails: Lakefront; Burnham Greenway; Erie Lackawanna; Oak Savannah.

Minimum average speed: 12 mph.

Total distance: around 100 miles.

Do not forget: water, spare tubes, tools, lock, bungee cord, layers, gloves, snacks, sunscreen, etc.

Weather.

More details to follow, if needed.

The weather looks perfect tomorrow!

It's a bit too early to be sure, of course, as April weather is moody, but as of now things are looking up—chilly, but dry and not freezing:

Oh man, I looked at my calendar, and I'm already booked for that night...

Have to see whether I can fit it in...

My friend, Mark, is the manager at F8. I'll see if there's anything he can do for us.

Other than that, I'll be staying in Valpo to visit family, so I won't be joining the ride back to Flossmoor.

Duppie, depends on how much beer I've had, how much I have left over in my pannier, and my RoadHolland winner spoke's card ;).

But as of now, I think I'll be down with riding back up.
